Welcome to the 6th annual World Kayak Hometown Throwdown series.  With grassroots support and community stoke we have grown from a small 32 event series into a 150 plus event series that is hands down the biggest event series in kayaking history.  Thank you for the support!

We are excited to announce a new addition to our event formats this year.  Over the past 6 seasons we have been hosting both freestyle and slalom survivor events, and for 2012 we are adding creek racing and boatercross in a handful of test locations.  In the interest of keeping things fun and fair for all boaters we are placing a 9’ length restriction on boats for the main event.  This includes all the big sizes of modern creek boats including the Zen 75, Remix 79, and the Everest.  For all you long boat enthusiasts (9’-1” and up) we will run a long boat category as well, after the modern creek boat category is complete.

This season we are also kicking things up one more notch with the first annual Hometown Throwdown Championship that will be held at the Guest Appreciation Festival (GAF) of the Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC) near Bryson City, NC.  This will be your chance to strut your stuff on the worlds feature before the international boating community descends on Western North Carolina next year for the Freestyle World Championships.
