World Kayak Sea-Tac region is made up of boaters of all ages, styles, interests, and experiences. Every other week, I ask a series of questions to one member of our community, and share their answers here:
What you do when you’re not paddling (what’s your day job?) Paddle and talk about paddling! I work at Cascade PaddleSports, both as a kayaking instructor and in the retail shop.
When and how were you first introduced to kayaking? I went rafting and was hooked on whitewater, so I signed up for a kayaking class.
What goals do you have for this year and/or your lifetime boating career? To have the ability to boat my entire life… This year, I just want to get out more.
What’s your favorite river/run in the Seattle-Tacoma area? The Green! It’s just so pretty.
What is it about kayaking/rafting/SUPing… that you love? I love how it puts me in the moment, so that anything else going on in my life gets the volume turned down, at least while I’m on the river.
Who is your favorite person to boat with? Why? My bud Sam. He always inspires confidence and I know he always has my back. Not to mention he’s one of the coolest guys I know.
What boat do you paddle now/what is your favorite boat to paddle & why? Do I have to pick just one? I paddled a small Pyranha Burn for years and just love it. I’ve recently upgraded to a small Shiva for extra volume and a little more forgiveness when creeking. I also love my Dagger G-force, it was my first boat and I’ve had it for ages.
What is so great about paddling in Seattle-Tacoma? There is always something to run, all year long.
