Recently, I’ve found out about a store our in Cookeville, TN that carries all kinds of great paddlesports gear and its much closer to us than Chattanooga. I’ve recently been talking with them on bringing a series of winter Hometown Throwdowns to the Mid/Tn area. Here is their information:

A great place to go for all your paddling needs is Rock Creek Paddlesports in Chattanooga, TN. Recently I stopped in there on the way back from Atlanta. Another place to look for paddling gear (not whitewater specific) is Cumberland Transit located near Vanderbilt University. They are mainly a general outdoor outfitter and don’t carry alot of whitewater gear. You can find things like noseplugs, rec-boats, bikes, hiking gear, etc. Their address is as follows:

REI is a great quick stop place for basic paddling gear. They are also a general outdoor outfitter, carrying everything from bikes to hiking gear, and climbing gear to paddlesports. You can buy nice sit on top kayaks there perfect for class two waters. Check them out as well.

Academy Sports is a great place for outdoor clothing. This is where I come to buy things like gear bags, thermals, dry-tech shirts and pants, and water shoes. The prices are very competitive and they have great deals on non-cotton apparel.
