– Idaho Statesman Edition Date: 04/12/07

It might not be a good advertisement for whitewater rafting and kayaking with all the carnage and flipped boats, but it sure is fun to watch. andquot;Feeding the Dragon, andquot; a DVD produced by the folks at the Payette River Co., is entertaining for both whitewater boaters and non-boaters alike. Rafts are continually flipping, kayakers are swimming, and then there are the waterfalls. You can close your eyes. As you watch the whitewater boaters approaching a set of rapids, you can hear yourself saying, andquot;Dont go there. Dont go there.andquot; Then, BAM! Somebody crashes into a canyon wall. You are not supposed to do that. Actually, the DVD makes you want to jump in a kayak and blast through huge waves. The whitewater DVD is all local, from the Lochsa to the Salmon to the South Fork of the Payette. Price: $12.95; available at Cascade Outfitters or online at www.payetteriver.com. For more information, call the Payette River Co. at (208) 726-8467. To offer story ideas or comments, contact reporter Pete Zimowsky at pzimowsky@idahostatesman.com
