Well, my very first Midwest Freestyle Competition ended with a visit to Bullshooters, the bar with a mechanical bull. It is to date, the most memorable night of the past 4 years in Wausau by the freestyle crowd. Bullshooters no longer exists, but we have found a new way to ride the bull. Yes, this one involves kayaking!

The parks wave at the bottom of Big Drop has now become known as the Bull due to the wild ride you’ll have attempting to surf it.  So, this weekends Hometown Throwdown was a competition to ride the “Bull” for 8 seconds. All 30 participants were entered in a drawing for great prizes from our World Kayak sponsors, and a handful went home with the “I Rode the Bull” sticker!

What a great way to end the season of throwdowns! Now we look forward to our Gauley Trips and hopefully many first timers are able to join the more experienced groups.

Big Thanks to Chris O’Brien, Aaron Schrader, Brian Scholz and everyone else who helped run this throwdown!

See you on the River!
