Hometown Throwdown Calgary June 23 / 2013

Due to the extraordinary flooding in Calgary, Canmore, Banff, High River, and other parts of Southern Alberta, we have no choice but to cancel the Harvie Passage Hometown Throwdown. Homes, possessions, and even lives have been lost from the horrendous amounts of water which has inundated Alberta.

Calgary is decimated, highways and bridges have been destroyed, train tracks have been ripped apart like tinsel, and waters are still extraordinarily high. We pray for those affected by the flood, and hope for a speedy recovery. In all reality, it will take weeks, if not months to reclaim Calgary, and regions around Southern Alberta back to some form of normalcy.

We won’t really know what our features in Alberta are going to look like once this water recedes. However the Harvie Passage Hometown Throwdown is obviously cancelled. We are hoping to reschedule it for July 7th. Please stay tuned. Assessments of our WK event sites (Harvie / Brierlies / S-Bends) have yet to occur. We hope things are still intact.

Thank you for your time in reviewing this, and send good Karma to those affected by such a horrific event. It makes it hard to think about paddling.
