On November 6, 2012 the people of Bend, Oregon, once again, showed their support for the Bend Parks and Recreation District by passing bond measure 9-86, which will partially fund the replacement of the Colorado Street Dam with a whitewater play park.  $900,000 of private funds still needs to be raised to complete the project.  The Bend Paddle Trail Alliance is fundraising to achieve this goal.  The park will have three channels.  One for the safe and easy passage of recreation floaters, one for a 3 or 4 feature whitewater park, and one for a wildlife area.  The boaters of Central Oregon are looking forward to the opening of the new park and we expect the park to be extremely popular.
