Atlanta Hometown Throwdown Event #5 – Freestyle Competition Slalom Survivor Revision

So we wanted to have a freestyle competition for our last hometown throwdown of the point series, but unfortunately we have had very little to no rain so Big Creek and the Cartecay are a no go, but that does not mean we will cancel the event, we will just revise it. So we are bringing back an oldie but a goodie – Slalom Survivor. We will also be awarding goodies (delicious cupcakes) to the top ranked paddlers in each division. Come out and join us!!

See the details below.

August 26 @ 11:00 AM

Feature: Metro Chattahoochee River – Devil’s Raceway

Slalom Survivor: The goal of each paddler will be to stash 1 numbered clothespin in 15 different containers located in eddies throughout Devil’s Raceway while being times. It will be a mass start at the top of the rapid, and the time will stop upon reaching the island below the rapid and stashing their last clothespin. Each receptacle will be collected and clothespins will be counted at the take out. Note – Each missed receptacle  will be a penalty of 10  minutes.

After the completion of the timed event, paddlers will paddle down to the take out.

Awards Ceremony and Prize Draw will follow after we have gotten off the river, and will be held at the take out. You must be present to win a prize. There is an array of prizes from our local and national sponsors.

Prizes will be given out for participation or volunteering, and not based on score. Winner’s just get bragging rights, and points in the throwdown standings.

We will also be announcing the top ranked paddlers in each division with each of those paddlers receiving a sweet treat for their awesome skills and participation.
