This is a free event for everyone and anyone can enter and everyone should enter for big fun. This event will be videoed, curtsey of Pilot Media, and judged at the Chaco booth on the big screen during the Gauley Fest on Saturday night. This will keep it from interfering with private boaters wishing to surf the wave. Competitors will simply hop in line and before they ferry onto the wave they will show the camera man their number which will be on their paddle, so that we can keep track of who is who for judging purposes. Each competitor will get two rides on video. Pilot Media will be on site from 12:00-3:00 P.M. to capture all of the action.
They will then sprint down the river to prep the video experience for us that evening. Judging will run throughout the evening at the Chaco booth and prizes will be awarded at 9:00 P.M.! This will be the richest prize purse of the 2011 Hometown Throwdown season. Prizes will include a 2010 Jackson Kayak Star, Chaco sandals, and lots of other great items from Smith Optics, IR, Kokatat, Shred Ready, Stony Boater paddle wax, Mtn. Khakis, and Rapid Transit. Remember our prizes are awarded based on participation not performance, so even if you are in first or last place you have just as good of a chance at winning the best prizes.
