Why It’s all about fun and a good cause. Last year we rised over $1,000 for First Descents, our goal this year to double that and rise $2,000. First Descents is committed to curing young adults of the emotional effects of cancer and empowering them to regain control of their lives by experiencing whitewater kayaking and other challenging adventure sports in a safe, fun and supportive environment. Everyone had a great time last year just ask around the eddy.

How it works?
Each pro will be paired up with two amateur paddlers, forming a team. It will then be a team competition Throwdown and new for this a team Boatercross event. This is a Throwdown and we will be using the Worldkayak point system for the Throwdown and Slalom Survivor format for the Boatercross. At the end the winning team gets bragging rights for the year and everybody gets their name thrown into the raffle for prizes. The USNWC is donating water time to everyone entered into the Pro-Am event, both pros and armatures. There is no cost for the pros. The amateurs will pay an entry fee of $50, with all proceeds going to First Descents. Everyone who enters the Pro-Am will get a free event T-Shirt designed by Trent Thibodeaux so you know it is stylin.
Any and all pros are more than welcome period. The pros can bring boats for folks to demo, stickers and any other freebies they would like. If you would like to donate any merchandise to the raffle for the competitors it would be greatly appreciated but is in no way necessary. This event is all about bringing the boating community together for a great cause and for great fun. It is a thrill to compete alongside and against the best in the sport.

So what do I get for my $50?? Well first off 100% of the entry fee goes to First Descents. Your water time at the USNWC is included. Now if that isn’t enough you will get to paddle with some world class paddlers. Along with one other amateur you will be teamed up with one of the pros. The teams will be formed at 12 noon and you will get to paddle, practice and get some world class instruction for the Throwdown which starts at 3pm followed by a team BoaterCross Race. Now if that is not enough, you will get a stylin event T-Shirt designed by Trent Thibodeaux. You can’t touch this deal, spend the day paddling with the best for a great cause get a new stylin shirt all for $50?? See you at the USNWC Aug, 27th!!
