Adding the Fun-factor to your paddling community
The World Kayak Events program has one goal: "Bring the fun of paddling within your community front and center!"ᅠ This initiative will bring a continual line of events and event support to paddling regions across the globe.ᅠ Events will be developed and delivered through our ambassador network and into a growing number of regions.ᅠ

Our programs will include:

World Kayak Hometown Throwdowns
- 10 regions in North America,
- 5 events in each region
- 56 events total across the US and Canada in 2008,
- Expanding globally in 2009

- Night of the Living Donkey and many more

World KayakᅠFestival Supportᅠ
- Pro paddler tours and appearances
- "Am I ready for the Gauley guided trip contest"
- Festival assistance - on-line registration, prizes, direct assistance

Competing at your own level - The Throwdown
When's the last time you've ever entered a local competition? What chased you away? Pro-boater clog? No points for a front surf? Only two classes... great and super great? Not enough stickers on your helmet? The World Kayak Hometown Throwdown gives you a chance to compete with folks at your own level... and for the best reason of all... for FUN!
Reno Throwdown brings out bigger numbers
The busy month of April started with a bang at two venues, Nova Scotia and Reno. A total of 60+ paddlers showed up at these rivers for fun and rewarding friendly competition. The communities were rewarded with prizes for participation from Jackson Kayak, Smith Optics, MION footwear, Red Bull and IR.
Rain, sleat and snow... WK Hometown Throwdowns begin
With temperatures dropping below -11C, a blinding snowstorm and a freezing rain kick that sent the town into darkness the first ever World Kayak Hometown Throwdown went off in Nova Scotia this past weekend!
WK Throwdowns begin this weekend
March 1 on the Medway River in Nova Scotia, the World Kayak Hometown Throwdown regional events begin. The first of 61 events in 13 paddling regions across N. America. Thanks to sponsors MION Footwear, Jackson Kayak, Smith Optics, Red Bull, Immersion Research and AW for help... along with a growing number of other key partners ... to be announced shortly.
