Confluence/Ohiopyle

Welcome to the Confluence/Ohiopyle region

If you ever get the chance to travel around the Eastern US, think about making one of your stops here in the Southwestern Pennsylvania area. Located near the highest point in PA, the Youghiogheny River (The Yough) is nestled in the Laurel Highlands, and is surrounded by some of the most scenic and classic whitewater in the country. The Yough holds some of the most popular runs such as the Lower (Class III), Middle (Class II), Upper (Class V), and Top (Class V) sections. These different sections of the Youghiogheny bring hundreds and hundreds of paddlers from all over to the region with guaranteed damn releases during the summer months. Ohiopyle Falls create a prominent background, and entices the eager paddlers who wait for the opportunity to run a pure Waterfall. There is such exceptional paddling that companies like Immersion Research, Backlund Paddles, Shredder Inflatables, Grateful Heads Helmets, and Mountain Surf have called this area home. This region is also appropriately located to some all time exceptional rivers within a 2 hour drive time. Gems like the Stony Creek in PA, Cheat River, Big Sandy, Upper Blackwater, and Upper Gauley in WV are anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours away. Winter time boast some great XC, and local resort skiing. While visiting, swing by Frank Lloyd Wrights architectural masterpiece known as Falling Waters, bike on the Allegheny Passage Rails to Trails path, and visit the Lucky Dog Cafe in Confluence which is a boaters favorite.
